Corner Stones of Woven | Healthy Emotions

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.

“A terrible fight is going on inside of me,” he said to the boy.

”It’s a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves.

One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

The same fight is going on inside you; inside every other person too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, ”Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, ”The one you feed.”

The fable of the two wolves beautifully illustrates the daily battle between powerful emotions within us all. Each wolf depicts a range of feelings, which reflect and define us. Thoughts are as food to these two wolves, and whichever one you feed the most will grow strong and prevail.

Which of your wolves is thriving? Which of your wolves do you starve? Which wolf do you feed, and/or allow other to feed the most? Which is the stronger, dominant wolf? Your answers to those questions define your mental health.

Our thoughts and feelings are the most powerful tools that drive our actions. The resulting actions can make or break any situation in an instant. Thoughts drive feelings; feelings drive thoughts. Both are a language with which we communicate. Of the two, what we FEEL is the more powerful. We can have all the knowledge in the world to rationalise with, but we are most likely to do or say something according to how we FEEL. To feel is to invoke powerful emotions and reactions, which can redirect us to another place as quick as a flash. It can be either positive or negative, uplifting or destructive.

All good actions begin with the first thought. All bad actions begin with the first thought.

WOVEN aims to help you make changes to your old, negative thought processes and to encourage better, more positive thinking to flourish you.
